How to treat scale If the scale infestation is minimal, the scale treatment of the scale is simply a water spray. Blow the affected area with a pressurized hose. This will expose and weaken the bugs, which can then be treated with an insecticide soap or a mixture of 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap to a gallon of water. If the problem persists, remove the worst pads at the joints and discard them. If the cactus appears to be heavily infested, you may need to opt for a chemical treatment with cochineal. Apply a combination of insecticide, dormant oil spray and/or insecticide soap. Malathion and triazide combined with Neem oil or Volck sleeper oil should do the trick

By the time spurge has gotten that big, it's gone to seed. Killing it does little good, because the seeds will grow it back one hundred fold. The best way to control spurge, is spraying a pre-emergent herbicide, like Prodiamine, in the early spring, and another treatment in the early summer. It keeps the millions of seeds from germinating. If any spurge plants germinate, you need to completely remove them, entire root and all, or spray them with roundup, or 2-4-D, (weed be gone), before they go to seed.

Anyone know how to scare away black-capped chickadees specifically? They've recently taken over our whole neighborhood. They've scared off the other little songbirds, and they begin shrieking every morning at 3 am, unlike the other birds, who used to wait till at least 4 am, and who have much prettier songs. We really miss the beautiful variety of songbirds we used to see and hear around here. Now all we ever hear is this boring and screechy "You who! You who! You who!" 😝

This methods only works in vast, wide open spaces where there is always some sort of breeze, even if the forecast doesn't call for "breezy conditions". In the suburbs or all other areas where there are no vast, wide-open spaces, you don't get that constant breeze due to buildings, trees and other structures being so close in proximity to one another so the ribbons just lay there unless it just happens to be a breezy day.

I have a big problem with parrots pooping on my driveway. Tried hanging a CD but didn't stop them. Also read that streamers don't always work and wonder if it depends on the type of bird.

Last week my wife had red painfully swollen face and hands for days after trmming some spurge in her mom's garden. This week she chopped it all out, but her uncle managed to get some in his eyes just while stuffing it in the dumpster, and was temporarily blinded. REALLY PAINFUL! Read up on this dangerous plant before handling it at all.

I have spurge taking over my back yard. I have treated it twice with weed and feed, I have also spayed it with a weed killer that states it will kill spurge, but it is still taking over my back yard. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to dig it up, but it is to the point that it is beyond the point of being able to get control of it. It is literally everywhere!

Sure........listen. You should pull this Video because Roundup will kill grass or anything else near it. The best thing is get your lazy butts down on your knees and pull it out. Make sure you get the main roots. ROUNDUP IS A "SPURGE" to Humans!

Using a cd does work great! I had the same problem and hung them on each side and the shiny reflection is the trick.

Can't use Roundup uphere in the true north (Ontario). Any other suggestions? Thanks for this.

these work around the pool but after a while the sun breaks the shiny tape and it clogged our pool sucker. .but it does work..also an own on a pole we move weekly! will try the CD trick also!
